Your Presence is Vital
1 September 2024
Monthly Theme: Welcome Home
Welcome to the start of a new justice and congregational year! As we gather together, I am filled with hope and determination for the work that lies ahead. Our commitment to racial justice is more than just a call to action; it is a testament to our shared belief in the inherent worth and dignity of every person.
This year, we center our efforts on the powerful theme of “Love.” Love, in all its forms, will guide our work as we continue to confront and dismantle systems of oppression. Our monthly themes will help us explore love’s many dimensions, starting with September’s focus on “Welcome Home.”
“Welcome Home” speaks to the heart of our community. It is an invitation to create spaces where everyone feels seen, valued, and included. For UUs for Racial Justice, this means deepening our commitment to anti-racism, welcoming new stories into our community, and ensuring that our work is grounded in the experiences and leadership of those most affected by racial injustice.
As we move through this year, we will challenge ourselves to think critically about what love and justice require of us. We will examine our own biases, strengthen our alliances, and take bold actions to create a more equitable world. This work is not easy, but it is necessary—and together, we have the power to make a difference.
I encourage each of you to approach this year with an open heart and a willingness to engage deeply. Whether you are new to this journey or have been on this path for some time, know that your presence is vital. We need you, your passion, and your commitment to make our collective vision a reality.
Thank you for your dedication to this important work. I look forward to the many ways we will grow, learn, and fight for justice together in the months ahead.
